Home Assistant, Lamont household · Last updated October 8, 2026
Who this covers
This app is a private connection between our household's own Google account and our own self-hosted Home Assistant system. It is used only by the household that owns it. No one else can sign in to it.
What data it accesses
With our permission, Home Assistant uses Google's Smart Device Management API to read information from our own Google Nest devices: device names and status, camera live streams and snapshots, and events such as motion, people and doorbell presses.
How the data is used
The data is used only to show our own devices on our home dashboard and to run our own home automations. It is processed on our own computer at home.
Sharing
We do not sell, share or transfer this data to anyone. It is not used for advertising, analytics or any purpose other than running our own home.
Storage and retention
Any data Home Assistant keeps (such as recent events) stays on our own computer at home and is deleted on Home Assistant's normal schedule. Access to Google can be removed at any time from the Google account's security settings ("Third-party apps with account access").
Google API Services User Data Policy
Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
